Theatre
Work

Having recently completed a 12-week creative technical theatre bootcamp, I gained skills in lighting, sound, rigging, stage management, safety protocols, and live event production. I gained practical experience through site visits and expert-led sessions at prestigious venues, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Birmingham Hippodrome, Midlands Arts Centre, and more.

Here is a collection of photos from the final stage of the bootcamp, where I had the pleasure of co-directing my first theatre show - an adaptation of Lungs by Duncan Macmillan. Colour and sound can communicate a thousand words, and I wanted to use this to my advantage to represent the constantly shifting mental states of the two characters - W and M. During the concept stage, I used my background in art, film and sound to draw up audio-visual 'starting points' for our project. When directing Act 2, I was inspired by my own experience of synaesthesia, creating breathing sounds that conveyed a sense of panic, and fleshing them out further through colour to connect everything together.
